Amaya's Assessment

Yesterday morning Amaya, Ate Arielle and I went to Silvercrest for Amaya's assessment so that we could know if she will be in preparatory due to her age (she is 5 years old) or will start at kindergarten. So Tr. Johnel Aguilera attended to her. He brought her to the playroom/library for the kids. The assessment took 20 minutes. When they came back, Tr. Johnel and I talked. He told me that when it comes to verbal and conversation, numbers, Amaya is doing a great job. But she is not yet that familiar with the letters and is not yet good in writing.

Tr. Johnel told me that there 3 types of learner: THE VISUAL LEARNER, AUDITORY LEARNER and THE KINESTHETIC LEARNER. Amaya belongs to the 3rd group. Meaning that she could focus on 2 different things at the same time. I have learned a lot from the explanations of Tr. Johnel. He told me that I should be the one to adjust to Amaya instead of the other way around. If that will be the case ndi din naman ma-aabsorb ni Amaya yung tinuturo ko if I will pursue what I want. This is not SPOILING her, it is just her needs when it comes to learning is some what different from other kids her age.

So when I got home yesterday, I google what is really a KINESTHETIC LEARNER and here is what I found in Wikipedia.

KINESTHETIC LEARNING - is a learning style in which learning takes place by the student actually carrying out a physical activity rather that listening to a lecture or merely watching a demonstration. It is also referred to as TACTILE LEARNING. People with kinesthetic learning style are also commonly known as doers. These type of learners make about 5% of the population.

So right now instead of the basic up-down, straight lines and others that I her to learn, I might have to teach her how to write the letters and numbers already. Whew! I believe patience and understanding will have to be my best buddies in the coming days.

Arielle's Graduating from Elementary

Time really flies so fast (LITERALLY). It was just like yesterday when my eldest daughter, Arielle, graduated from kindergarten and then last March 31, 2012 at CAP building, this time she will graduate from elementary. Let the pictures do the talking.

NSO Experience

This morning I went to National Statistics Office here at Fiesta World Mall, Lipa City. Since I have to finish my household chores here at home, I left my place at 10:00 in the morning and arrived there at 10:30 a.m. It is Monday that is why traffic is all over the place. Anyway, as soon as I arrived, I saw this long, long line. As in. I almost backed out but I told myself that I have to sacrifice because I really need an NSO copy of my kids birth certificates and mine as well.

So as not to waste my time, I asked somebody where to get the form to that is needed to be screened. Someone pointed to window 2. So off I went to the window and got 4 forms for the birth certificates. I have to fill each form so be sure to BRING YOUR OWN BALLPEN. After filling up all the forms, I started to go to the last person in line so that I could be next. It took me 15 to 20 minutes just to get to the SCREEN WINDOW. The lady behind this window will just encircle the names and the dates that they need. The lady will stamp your forms with a number that will be called for the payment process. So guess what my number was, 1006 to 1009.

In fairness to them it took me another 20 minutes to be called for my payment. After paying, you get the receipts and have the patience until your number is called. In my case, I asked the lady how long do I have to wait, from the time I paid. She told me and hour to 2 hours maximum. So while waiting for the time, I decided to eat lunch, with my friend, Elaine. We decided to go back to the main office of NSO at around 2:15, and after 15 minutes my name was called. I almost shouted because I can't believe that I am almost finished.

There are few things that I noticed in the main office of NSO.

1. The aircondition is broken. Just imagine our perspiration and all. To think lahat ng amoy ng tao na nandun naghawa-hawa na. The only "cold" part is when lining up to the windows when you are called.

2. Be sure to bring a fan, water, biscuits and pen.

3. If you are going to get documents, PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS with you especially if they are babies or toddlers. I really pity the children who were brought by their parents with them.

Time to Party!!!

Instead of the usual dance, the party ended with the kids taking pictures with their respective teachers and friends. I, too, enjoyed the party. Until next graduation ball, this time it is Ate Joie's turn.

I am 38 already....

     Last Friday, April 20, I celebrated my 38th birthday. Yes my dear blog readers I am 38 years old already. The first thing I usually do every year is hear mass first thing in the morning here at Mt. Carmel church. This is my another "me time" alone, hearing mass alone especially during my special day. Anyways, after the mass I went home made breakfast and then went online to my facebook account and thanked all who have greeted me that morning, palang. hehehe! Then around 10:00 am, I took my bath and went to David's Salon at Robinson's to have a haircut. Yes, a haircut. Since summer is here and I can't really stand the heat, I decided to chopped off my hair...

     After the haircut, Francis picked me up at the mall then he bought a bucket of fried chicken to nearby fastfood chain then went home to eat lunch with the kids. As I was preparing the foods to eat, hubby surprised me with this....

     Then in the afternoon, my father, brother Angelo and his girlfriend Karen went here as well to greet me at the same time, my dad treat us to Yellow Cab for our mirienda.      After the treat, my kids and I went home to have dinner. And as my special day comes to an end, Francis surprised me of going to where, young adults and adults, usually go. It is called the Central BBQ Boy grill. Francis ordered 5 bottles of Antonov, a vodka drink na lasang sprite that after 2 bottles, windang na ako. Hahaha! I had a blast with Francis that night. It was the best date ever. Happy 38th birthday to me....

Graduation Ball Preparations

I should have blogged this last month but since I was really super duper busy during the last 2 weeks of March until the 1st weeks of April I wasn't able to blog at all. Obvious isn't it?! Hehehe! Anyway, I have a lot of stories to tell, ganito ata talaga pag mother. 1st stop, Graduation Ball of my eldest daughter, Arielle. Yes, you read it right, GRADUATION BALL. By the way, Arielle is just gr. 6. When I was in grade 6 we never had any grad. ball. After graduation, swimming na lang. On with my story. This first part of my story is the preparations of Arielle's Grad. Ball.

1st thing we looked for as early as February was the dress. Since Arielle doesn't like to wear a gown, we went looking for a COCKTAIL DRESS. Now here comes my dilemma, what the hell is a cocktail dress?! Hahaha! And as we googled it, and there it was. So we went to SM and looked around. The nicest cocktail dress we have seen will cost us 1,995.00 pesos. OM! One time lang gagamitin. So Francis decided to bring us to Robinson's and there we found the "perfect" cocktail dress for Arielle... And the price: 990.00 pesos only.... Yehey!!! We were able to save at least a thousand pesos. Here is the dress:

As the month of March ushered in, I decided to buy the shoes that will match the dress. Someone told me and Arielle that a silver heeled shoes will be the perfect "match" for the dress. This time we saw something nice at SM. And it was a great surprise for us again, kasi the shoes that my daughter liked was ON SALE. from 900.00 pesos we just paid 500.00 pesos. I believe lady luck is always with us every time we look for things...

The dress is ready as well as the shoes... Next stop the part itself. Well I guess that will have to wait. :)

Happy Easter....

Last night, it was a first time for me and my kids to attend an Easter Mass here at Mt. Carmel church. It started at exactly 8:30 in the evening with the blessing of the Paschal Candle by the priest. Of course the kids were sleepy during half of the ceremonies. But I told them to make this one an exception because this is the MOST CELEBRATED holiday in the Catholic calendar. And I was thankful enough that my 2 older ones bear with me except for my youngest... Siguro inip na to the max.

During the sermon of the priest he enumerated 3 things that we should remember and do to celebrate the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope I remember it right though. Hehehe!

1. Don't worry to much... - What ever worries one has, alisin na. If you have any doubts at all, alisin na din.

2. What ever that you could do today, do it now for you will never know if you will still have time to do it tomorrow. One fine example is, LOVING. If you could love the person right now and give it more, then do it. Baka bukas wala na. If you could share or give your time to the most important people in you life(lives) do it now. Rather than regret it later of not doing it.

3. Forgive... Sabi nila you could totally forgive a person if you have forgotten the pain he/she has caused you. Among these 3 I believe the third part will be most difficult for me. I could forgive but I could not easily forget. haaay. I guess this is one thing I should practice.

Although I was sleepy during the 1st part of the ceremony but during the sermon I was really listening intently and trying to digest whatever the priest is telling us. And today as we celebrate Easter Sunday, let us not forget the essence of celebrating the life of Jesus Christ.
